“With cuisine representative of what good Italian food should be, friendly staff and a welcoming ambience, Da Nunzio restaurant in Gungahlin is set for a bright future as more and more Canberrans discover it.

Da Nunzio Caffè Bar and Ristorante is one of those rare restaurants in town where the staff take extra interest in the diners, seeing them soon become regulars. Add to this the fact that the quality of food at Da Nunzio puts many of the town’s other Italian restaurants to shame, and it is an obvious pick for those in the area, and equally worth the trip for those who live further away.

Under the guidance of owner and chef Nunzio Raco, the team produces a varied and interesting menu. You cannot go wrong with the home-made pasta dishes such as ricotta cannelloni laced with basil leaves, or the tagliolini pasta with blue swimmer crab, chilli, garlic and olive oil. With its own woodfired pizza oven, the golden-crusted disks must be enjoyed with a great bottle of Italian wine, whether at the restaurant or at home. The Bocelli pizza presents tomato, char-grilled chicken, roasted pepperoni and mushrooms topped with pesto, olives and buffalo mozzarella. Veal scaloppini embodies robust Italian heart whilst the bistecca al forno is Raco’s Italian interpretation of ‘beef and reef’, and is a favourite with most of the regulars. The restaurant also offers a sizeable and tempting dessert menu, beautiful cakes, coffee and cold beverages, and is open for breakfast or all day on the weekends.

Da Nunzio Caffè Bar and Ristorante has passionate Italian charm that will have you returning like an old flame.”
